Our Story
Fitra.Earth is a community hub dedicated to cultivating both the spirit and the soil, drawing its name and philisophy from the Quranic concept "Fitra": the natural law of the soul, the instinctive human nature from God to know and worship Him (Quran 30:30).
We believe that ecological agriculture is a means to the cultivation of the soul and a pathway to living the good life. It is a direct affront to individualism, profligacy, and the totalizing logic of the market. Fitra.Earth aims to support community engagement efforts of Muslims by:
- Developing a spiritual connection to the Divine through communal devotion;
- Cultivating virture the the art and practice of land husbandry;
- Nurturing community bonds; and
- Establishing a sense of community resilience and self-reliance.
We aim not only to provide access to local and organic food, but also to offer opportunities for skill-building and spiritual well-being by deepening one's kinship with the land. We advocate for an ethical food system, with equitable access to healthy, local, organic, and wholesome food.
